PhD in Educational Administration and Supervision

Virginia Tech offers this doctoral program in educational leadership at several of its campuses around Virginia. It is organized for people already working in education, who may study full time or part time. Courses combine theory with the practical challenges of school and system leadership. Most students in the program pursue the Ed.D. degree, but a Ph.D. is also possible, and this listing refers to the Ph.D. Students commonly take two courses, which amounts to six credits, in each semester. They may take fewer in summer sessions and more once they begin dissertation research. Alumni have gone on to become principals, district administrators, state education officials, researchers and university faculty or administrators, and the program has operated for over fifty years.
