AA/AS in Computer Programming

Software Development at Waubonsee Community College sits within the Computer Information Systems offerings and leads to an Associate in Applied Science. Students build programming and problem-solving skills through classes that favor live demonstrations and practice writing code over extended lectures. The curriculum combines technical knowledge with business awareness, which supports careers such as software developer, systems analyst or database administrator. Graduates may also move into roles like project management or testing. The pathway is flexible: some students enter the workforce directly, while others continue toward an advanced degree, sometimes alongside an internship or a full-time job. Faculty with industry experience guide learners, and the college also provides a Certificate of Achievement in the same subject for those who want a shorter credential.
