PGCert in Geography and Cartography

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Geospatial Science and Technology is designed for students in many graduate programs who want to apply spatial technologies such as GIS and remote sensing. Its multidisciplinary approach lets students apply spatial methods to research questions from their own fields. The sequence has three required geospatial courses and one elective chosen from options in other departments, such as lake and stream ecology. Applicants need an undergraduate degree with a minimum overall grade point average. The program is delivered through Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and its requirements appear in the university's 2026-2027 academic catalog. Prospective students should read the catalog entry and consult the department about advising and course sequencing, since specific course lists, prerequisites and policies are set by the department and may change between catalog editions.
