How It Works

The EmSAT Achieve battery is the UAE Ministry of Education's national standardised admissions test. The English section is scored on a 300 – 2000 scale; Mathematics and other subjects are scored on a 500 – 2000 scale. There is no pass/fail mark — universities publish their own threshold per programme.

EmSAT English → IELTS / TOEFL iBT / CEFR

  • 1100–1225 ≈ IELTS 5.0 · TOEFL iBT 61 · CEFR B1
  • 1250–1375 ≈ IELTS 5.5 · TOEFL iBT 70 · CEFR B1/B2 (MOE general entry)
  • 1400–1525 ≈ IELTS 6.0 · TOEFL iBT 79 · CEFR B2 (Khalifa University entry)
  • 1550–1650 ≈ IELTS 6.5 · TOEFL iBT 90 · CEFR B2+
  • 1675–1775 ≈ IELTS 7.0 · TOEFL iBT 100 · CEFR C1
  • 1800–1900 ≈ IELTS 7.5 · TOEFL iBT 105 · CEFR C1+
  • 1925–2000 ≈ IELTS 8.0 · TOEFL iBT 110 · CEFR C2

EmSAT Mathematics → SAT Math

The MOE-published anchor points are EmSAT 500 ≈ SAT Math 450 and EmSAT 600 ≈ SAT Math 485. This calculator extends the same linear slope (0.35 SAT points per EmSAT point) across the scale, clamped to the SAT Math section range of 200–800.

Important Caveats

  • EmSAT scores are valid for 18 months from the test date — shorter than IELTS/TOEFL's 24-month window.
  • Equivalencies are indicative. Universities outside the UAE may not accept EmSAT directly, even when the converted score meets their published cut-off.
  • Scores below the lowest published band (EmSAT English < 1100) sit below CEFR B1 and have no official IELTS equivalency.
