Founded 1959 as Tianshui Normal Training School.
Successively became Tianshui Teachers Training College 1963, Tianshui Reformatory Normal Training School 1966. Closed down during the Cultural Revolution.
Became 5.7 Red Training School 1969, then Tianshui District Normal Training School 1971, Tianshui Normal Training School 1979, Tianshui Normal Junior College 1992. Acquired current status and title 2000.
