Overview
Founded 1930 as Zaporizhzhia Institute of Public Education by the Council of People's Commissars of Ukraine, renamed Pedagogical Institute of Vocational Education 1931 and Zaporizhzhia State Pedagogical Institute 1933.
Upgraded into a university 1985 by Decree of Ukrainian SSR Ministry of Higher and Secondary Professional Education. Reorganized into a classical university 1985.
Acquired national university status 2004. College of Economics and Law and College of Commerce opened 2008 and 2009.
Fourth level accreditation (the highest) granted 2010 by State Certification Commission.
Honorary titles awarded inlcude "Leader of Higher Education of Ukraine" and "Leader of scientific and scientific-technical activity". A state-owned higher education institution
