Overview
Mount Saint Mary's University is a Catholic university in Los Angeles, California, founded in 1925 by the Sisters of St.
Joseph of Carondelet. Its undergraduate college is primarily for women, while graduate programs serve a wider student body.
The mission centres on a liberal arts and sciences education, leadership skills and a spirit of service to others. The university teaches on two campuses.
Chalon sits in the Santa Monica Mountains, and Doheny is located near Downtown Los Angeles in a historic setting.
Around 1,700 undergraduates and about 540 graduate students study here, with small classes and a low student-to-faculty ratio. Academics span more than 40 undergraduate majors and minors, a group of graduate degrees and certificates, and weekend, evening and online options for working adults.
The university is especially known for nursing, where it offered the first nursing degree in California, along with science, film, creative writing and psychology. Applicants can apply as first-year, transfer, nursing, graduate or international students.
Merit scholarships and need-based aid are available, and the university publishes a net price calculator and separate financial aid pages for each student group.
