πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ Malaysia: UPU "Mata Merit" (90:10) Planner

Aggregates mandatory 90% Academic SPM results with 10% Co-curricular (PAJSK) points governing public university (IPTA) intake.

Pick the SPM grade attained for each of your five core subjects (BM, BI, Sejarah, Math, Science/elective β€” whichever yields the highest sum).

Three best remaining electives. Each subject's NGMP grade point is scaled by 10/18 (so an A+ here contributes a maximum of 10, not 18).

PAJSK final score is the average of your top 2 of 4 categories (Kelab, Sukan, Uniform, Khidmat Negara). Scaled to a 10-point max for UPU.

Enter the prior-year cutoff merit you are targeting (e.g. Medicine UM β‰ˆ 89–92, Engineering β‰ˆ 80–85).

UPU merit requires BOTH academic and co-curricular components. A perfect 9A+ alone caps you at 90/100 β€” PAJSK is mandatory to break the 90 ceiling.

How It Works

1. The 90:10 Split

Public university (IPTA) intake through UPU uses a strict 90:10 weighting: 90% academic SPM, 10% PAJSK co-curricular. The two components are computed independently then summed β€” there is no compensation between them.

A candidate with 9A+ but zero PAJSK is capped at 90.00, and can lose to a candidate with slightly weaker academics whose full 10-point PAJSK lifts their total above 90.

2. NGMP Grade Points

Each SPM grade carries a Nilai Gred Mata Pelajaran (NGMP): A+ = 18, A = 16, A- = 14, B+ = 12, B = 10, C+ = 8, C = 6, D = 4, E = 2, G = 0.

UPU sums grade points from the 5 wajib/teras subjects (max 90) plus the 3 best other subjects (max 30 β€” each scaled by 10/18) to form a base out of 120 raw, then rescales: (base Γ· 120) Γ— 90 = academic merit.

3. PAJSK Co-Curricular (10%)

PAJSK (Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum) scores four categories β€” Kelab/Persatuan, Sukan/Permainan, Badan Beruniform, Khidmat Negara. Each is graded on attendance (50%), jawatan (10%), penglibatan (20%) and pencapaian (20%).

UPU averages your top 2 of 4 categories β€” that 0–100 score is then scaled to a 0–10 contribution.

4. Adversarial Boundary Trap

Entering a subject as G (0 mata) still counts toward the divisor of 120 β€” it does not get excluded. The "3 best other" selection only picks your highest 3, so failing one elective is recoverable only if you sat enough subjects to drop it.

This planner refuses to issue a result until all 8 grade slots are filled β€” partial inputs cannot yield a faithful merit projection.
