🇲🇽 Mexico: IPN Politécnico Modular Score Evaluator

Pure aciertos ranking — no curved score. The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) admits to nivel superior on the simplest of formulas: total correct answers (aciertos). Applicants are ranked from highest to lowest aciertos, and seats are filled top-down until the per-career quota runs out. There is no GPA weighting, no curve, and no minimum aggregate floor — only the prior-year cut-off for your specific career and campus.

140 reactivos, 130 scored. Every applicant sits 140 multiple-choice questions in 3 hours. Ten of those are an English diagnostic block that does not count toward admission. The scored maximum is therefore 130 aciertos, even though the test booklet contains 140 items. This is the single most common trap in informal IPN calculators that report a "/ 140" headline.

The three knowledge areas redistribute the questions. Your career is bound to one of three areas, and the per-subject reactivo counts shift accordingly:

The heavy-math weighting trap. A naive aggregate hides the fact that IyCFM aspirants face 71 heavy-math reactivos (Math + Physics + Chemistry = 37 + 17 + 17), while CSA aspirants face only 55. This calculator surfaces that block separately so you can see whether your aciertos are clustered in the area-defining heavy block or in the lower-weighted subjects — a critical distinction for engineering-bound candidates whose target cut-offs (95+ aciertos for Aeronautical, Mechatronics, Biomedical) demand strength in the heavy-math block, not just total volume.

Cut-off bands by demand. The IPN does not publish a fixed pass mark. Historical reference bands: ~75–85 aciertos for low-demand programmes, ~85–95 for mid-demand, ~95–105 for high-demand engineering, ~105–115 for top-tier (Medicine at ENMyH/ESM, Aeronautical at ESIME-Ticomán). Always confirm the prior-year cut-off for your specific career and unit on the admision.ipn.mx portal.

Falsification defence. Each per-subject input is capped at that subject's maximum reactivos for the selected area; entering 40 in Mathematics under IyCFM (where the cap is 37) is clamped, so the surfaced total cannot exceed 130. English is sandboxed: even a perfect 10/10 cannot inflate the admission score because the scoring engine adds only the seven counted subjects. A user whose scored aciertos fall short of the target cut-off will never see a green "pass" verdict regardless of how strong the diagnostic English block is.
