🇵🇪 Peru: PRONABEC Beca 18 Pre-Selection Formula
Estimate your composite Beca 18 ranking score by combining the Examen Nacional de Preselección (ENP) result with priorizables, IES quality group, gestión, regional and EDO high-demand bonuses, capped by your applicant modality.
Composite Beca 18 Score
How It Works
1. The ENP Is Two-Thirds of Your Score
The Examen Nacional de Preselección, scored on a 0–120 scale, is the dominant input. Every other component is a bonus that stacks on top — meaning a strong ENP can outrank an applicant with full priorizable bonuses but a mediocre exam result. PRONABEC publishes the ENP grade as the single most weighted variable.
2. The Priorizables Cap (The Hidden Trap)
Applicants often assume more priorizable conditions stack indefinitely. They do not. Ordinaria and VRAEM/FFAA modalities cap the priorizables contribution at +20 points; EIB caps at +25; Hijos de Docentes uses a different ceiling structure. Selecting four priorizables worth +5 each (which would naively total +20) still leaves no headroom for a fifth condition under Ordinaria. The calculator enforces these caps explicitly.
3. IES Group, Gestión & Regional Stack Separately
The IES quality group (G1 +10, G2 +8, G3 +6 — universities only) and the gestión bonus (public +10, private +5) are additive, not exclusive. Pairing a Grupo 1 public university yields +20 before any other component. The regional bonus of +10 is awarded once for permanencia OR movilidad, never both.
4. EDO Bonus Is IEST-Exclusive
The +10 high-demand career bonus, derived from PRONABEC's Encuesta de Demanda Ocupacional, only applies to Institutos de Educación Superior Tecnológica. University applicants in high-demand programmes do not receive this bump — a structural incentive to push beneficiaries toward technical careers. The calculator flags a warning when you claim the bonus against an IES that cannot qualify (such as a Grupo 3 university), but it does not auto-remove the points — uncheck it yourself if your IES is not an IEST.
5. SISFOH Acts as a Hard Gate
Beca 18 Ordinaria requires SISFOH classification of Pobreza or Pobreza Extrema. A "No Pobre" classification disqualifies the applicant outright — the composite score is irrelevant. The calculator surfaces this as a critical-fail banner rather than computing a misleading total.
6. Modality Ceiling Decides the Race
Maximum reachable score is 170 (Ordinaria / VRAEM/FFAA), 175 (EIB) or 180 (Hijos de Docentes). The Hijos de Docentes ceiling includes a separate teacher-status component (up to +5) that this calculator does not sum, so its "Score vs Modality Ceiling" bar tops out around 97% even on a perfect profile. Selection is by descending score within each modality's quota, with at least 30% of vacancies reserved for public-IES applicants and 0.5% for persons with disabilities.
