Master of Science in Software Engineering

This software engineering master's degree comes from the Canadian Institute of Technology, which runs it through its Department of Software Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering. It is meant for students who want to lead future software engineering work, and it draws on mathematics alongside computer science, electronics and networking. Students learn current industry practice in how software is designed, written, debugged and maintained, together with usability testing. The course is organised around working out what the end user needs and then delivering a software solution that meets it. A compulsory module, Advanced Project Management, teaches methods, principles and debugging tools and links them to real development processes. Students are encouraged to think critically and reflect on their work, so they can justify professional decisions on grounds of cost and ethics. The programme is taught in English.
