Program details

Overview

This postgraduate programme introduces Freinet pedagogy, its principles, its history and its core techniques. Students study the approach in historical context and learn cooperative working methods by experiencing them first-hand. Modules include visits to Freinet schools, so theory is linked to classroom examples. The course is aimed at teachers working in Freinet schools or preparing for Freinet education in primary or secondary schooling. It is delivered part-time over one year in day and weekend classes in Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels, and leads to a postgraduate diploma in Freinet pedagogy.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: A higher education diploma is required. A certificate of pedagogical competence is recommended; without it, a profile intake assessment applies. Places are very limited and an intake request is needed first.
