Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management at Royal Thimphu College is a four-year undergraduate degree that pairs environmental theory with hands-on skills for handling issues such as resource scarcity, pollution, waste, a changing climate, and population growth in Bhutan and elsewhere. Rather than treating environmental management as a purely scientific subject, the degree brings in a socio-political angle as well, which sets it apart from similar degrees taught at other colleges in the country. Students first build a base across the natural and social sciences, then apply that grounding to real environmental problems, both independently and as part of a team. Graduates are intended to leave as adaptable problem-solvers, comfortable picking up new tools and information and treating their professional learning as something that carries on well beyond graduation.
