This Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing is a one-year, Edexcel-awarded qualification that leans toward practical skills over theory, preparing students for computing careers in a short timeframe. It covers a broad range of computing topics seen in modern business, with modules spanning programming, networking, professional practice, database design and development, security, managing a computing project, website design and development, and maths for computing.
Learners use LCB's computing facilities and work with industry-experienced teaching staff throughout. The course runs full-time with evening classroom sessions, admitting students in March and September. Entry needs 1 GCE A Level plus 3 GCE O Level credits, a University Foundation Course conducted by LCB, a BDTVEC National Certificate, or an equivalent. On completion, students may progress to Year 2 entry in a Higher National Diploma in Computing, on either the Application Development or Software Engineering pathway.
