Overview
The Master of Development Economics (MDE) is a professional program in applied and development economics, combining economic theory and econometrics with the study of the economic aspects of development in low-income countries. Core coursework includes Development Microeconomics and Applied Development Economics, alongside graduate-level electives in economics. The program is offered full-time only, delivered in person, with a non-thesis track completed in a minimum of 12 months and a thesis track extending to a minimum of 16 months. Admission begins each September. Applicants need a four-year bachelor's degree in economics, business, or a related field with at least a B+ (upper second-class) average, together with a strong background in economics beyond the introductory level, statistics, and university-level mathematics. Applicants who do not meet the minimum English proficiency requirement may be considered for conditional admission pending a graduate-level ESL test.
