Diploma in Indigenous Studies

The Diploma in Indigenous Studies is a 60-credit-hour program at First Nations University of Canada that serves as the social science foundation for many of the university's degree and certificate programs. It promotes research and intellectual exploration of Indigenous peoples' cultures, histories, and contemporary situations, with an emphasis on Saskatchewan, followed by Canada, North America, and the global context, alongside the teachings of Elders and knowledge carriers. Courses are offered with options for in-person, hybrid, and online study, and the program is available at the Regina, Saskatoon, and Northern campuses. Admission requires a minimum 70% average in English Language Arts A30, English Language Arts B30, Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-Calculus 30, and two additional approved 30-level courses. Graduates are prepared for roles in advocacy, community outreach, policy advising, communications and research, or public service, and the diploma can lead into the Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies.
