Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Ancient Studies at Saint Mary's University examines the ancient Mediterranean world, covering the social history, archaeology, art, and architecture of ancient Greece and Rome alongside Near Eastern societies. Students develop critical thinking and writing skills through courses such as Ancient Civilizations of Greece and Rome, Bloody Caesars: Roman History II, and Pompeii. A distinctive component is a field studies placement at the Roman imperial villa site of San Felice in Puglia, Italy, where students practise archaeological techniques including excavation and artifact analysis.
