Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies explores an interdisciplinary approach to traditional humanities and social sciences through a global perspective. You can cover many core themes including the construction of racial, gender, national, class, and sexual identities, issues of social change, and the experience of power. You will gain practical experience working with non profit organizations, providing skills and experiences to their career path.

Admission Requirements: UBC's own admission page for Cultural Studies states no specific courses are required beyond the general requirements for entry to UBC Okanagan's Bachelor of Arts programs. For BC secondary-school applicants, UBC's institution-wide standard requires graduation from a recognised secondary school with English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 among the required Grade 12 courses; UBC publishes no institution-wide minimum entry average, since each program is assessed against its own applicant pool. International applicants are admitted on a recognised university-preparation credential: a completed IB Diploma with at least three Higher Level courses, GCE A Levels/AS Levels covering six academic areas including English, the Baccalaureat General or Baccalaureat Francais International, the Singapore-Cambridge GCE, a Chinese senior-secondary diploma with Gaokao results, or an equivalent twelve-year-system credential, plus a final grade of at least 70% in Grade 11 or 12 English where prior instruction was in English. All applicants must meet UBC's English Language Admission Standard: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT overall 90, PTE Academic overall 65, or Duolingo English Test overall 125.

Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
