Overview
This professional Master of Engineering combines mechanical and electrical engineering in the integrated modelling, analysis, design and manufacture of electromechanical and mechatronic systems. It is course-based, normally completed in twelve months across thirty credits, and includes a design project rather than a thesis. The principles taught are applied in transportation, manufacturing and production engineering, biomedical and healthcare technologies, energy, aviation and aerospace, automated office and household technologies, and computer systems. Applicants need a Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent plus relevant prior education in mechatronics design, and should be able to demonstrate proficiency in machine design, electronics, instrumentation and software. Graduates who have completed all thirty credits may be eligible for a four-month co-op work term. Delivered in person at UBC Vancouver.

Admission Requirements: This MEng is administered by UBC Engineering's professional-programs office rather than the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies; the grad-school program page defers to the Department of Mechanical Engineering's own application instructions. Those departmental pages require a credential comparable to a Canadian four-year Bachelor of Applied Science with a minimum overall average equivalent to B+ (country-specific equivalencies set by the MEng Program Office), plus prior education relevant to mechatronics design with demonstrated ability in machine design, electronics, instrumentation, and software. English proficiency for applicants whose prior instruction was not in English requires IELTS overall 6.5 or TOEFL iBT overall 93.
