Overview

The Maitrise en enseignement (profil science et technologie) is a 45-credit Master of Education (M. Ed.) at Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres leading to a Quebec secondary teaching diploma for candidates specialising in science and technology. The programme responds to a shortage of legally qualified teaching staff and develops the thirteen professional teaching competencies required for certification, linking theory with classroom practice. Courses are delivered entirely at a distance by synchronous videoconference (Zoom), except for one in-person weekend required for the science didactics course. The programme is offered part-time only. Candidates must complete a diagnostic French test and pass the TECFEE written French certification exam. As with UQTR's other subject-specific teaching-certification profiles, the curriculum links disciplinary content and its didactics to classroom practice within the ministry's professional competency framework. Admission is offered in the fall, winter, and summer terms.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 3.20 / 4.3
Admission Requirements: Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a discipline closely related to the science and technology teaching profile, with a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on 4.3 for Quebec-based studies, or the equivalent for studies completed outside Quebec (subject to a comparative evaluation of foreign credentials). A satisfactory command of French, oral and written, is required; candidates complete a diagnostic French test (TEDFRA-Enseignement) and must pass the TECFEE written French certification exam.
