Overview

This Master of Education is a part-time graduate program lasting about two and a half years and totalling 30 credits, delivered mainly through webinars with some asynchronous online coursework. It trains practising educators in the linguistic, psychological, sociological, and pedagogical foundations of French immersion and minority-context French education, including analysis and evaluation of existing curricula. The program is structured around a block of core courses, a specialization stream, a research methods and capstone component, and elective credits, with students choosing between a French-as-a-second-language specialization and a French-as-a-first-language specialization for minority settings. Admission requires a bachelor's degree in education or an equivalent field, a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.30 scale, a minimum of two years of teaching experience, advanced French proficiency, three letters of recommendation, and a written statement of motivation in French. The program is not open to international students holding study permits. The credential is a Master of Education, and it is designed for working teachers who want advanced training in French-language pedagogy and are pursuing leadership roles within schools or provincial education systems, particularly in immersion or minority-language teaching contexts.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 3.00 / 4.33

Required documents are official transcripts from every university attended, three confidential letters of recommendation (one specifically confirming the teaching-experience requirement), and a 500-word motivational letter in French stating the applicant's study objectives. The programme is not offered to international students holding a study permit. The application deadline is 1 August.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Université Sainte-Anne publishes no fixed closing date for domestic (Canadian) applicants, who submit their application online for a $55 fee ($60 for the Baccalauréat en éducation and master's programmes) and are assessed as received, though the scholarship-application deadline is 28 February. International applicants use a separate portal with fixed cut-offs for the 2026-27 cycle: applications for the autumn/fall session must be submitted before 1 May of the same year, and for the winter session before 1 August of the preceding year, i.e. by 1 August 2026 for winter 2027 entry. The institution does not describe domestic admission as rolling, but gives it no fixed close. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
