BA/BS in Secondary Education is a bachelor's degree in Education & Teaching programme offered by Université Sainte-Anne in Digby, Canada. The programme runs for 2 years, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 540 per credit (CAD 314 per credit for local students).
This Bachelor of Education program prepares graduates to teach at the secondary level and can be completed in two years or in an accelerated sixteen-month format, the latter not open to international students. The 60-credit program consists of seventeen courses combined with three practicum placements completed in Nova Scotia public schools under local school boards. Coursework is organized around five areas: the historical and current context of public education, human development, conditions for learning, teaching practice, and professional obligations, alongside subject-specific didactics in areas such as French, English, humanities, mathematics, sciences, or business education. Students do not take regular coursework while on practicum placement, and a failed placement may be repeated once before a second failure leads to dismissal from the program. Admission requires an undergraduate degree, a minimum 2.30 GPA, a specified level of French proficiency, and at least 30 credits in one approved secondary teaching subject plus 18 in a second. The credential is a Bachelor of Education, and the program is intended for university graduates seeking to become secondary school teachers within Nova Scotia's French-language or English-language education system, with subject specializations drawn from the approved curriculum areas listed by the university.
