Overview
This graduate program leads to a course-based Master of Engineering (MEng) in geomatics engineering through the Schulich School of Engineering. Students complete ten courses drawn from topics such as sensor webs and the Internet of Things, digital image processing, GNSS theory and applications, spatial databases and data mining, optical imaging metrology, and earth observation for the environment. Full-time completion typically takes one to two years, with part-time study available, and the program now admits students in both the Fall and Winter semesters. An accelerated 4+1 option lets final-year engineering or science undergraduates take up to three extra-to-degree courses that count toward the master's, allowing them to finish the MEng with one additional year of study. An optional 8-to-16-month full-time paid internship with companies across Canada is offered on a limited basis. Graduates go on to work in sectors including unmanned vehicles, robotics, land and industrial surveying, aerospace, navigation and location services, energy and natural resources, and agriculture. Instruction is delivered at the University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale over the last two years of full-time study (at least 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of the undergraduate degree, and a four-year baccalaureate degree in geomatics, civil or electrical and computer engineering, physics, computer science, geography, or an equivalent degree from a recognized institution. An accelerated 4+1 route is open to final-year engineering or science undergraduates who complete up to three pre-approved senior courses that count toward the master's.
