Geoscience - MSc - Course

This course-based Master of Science in Geoscience offers non-thesis study in geology or geophysics, with an optional interdisciplinary specialization in reservoir characterization offered jointly with Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. The program consists of nine courses, including a minimum of five graduate-level courses, and requires all students to write, present, and defend a research report in place of a thesis. It is full-time, normally completed in two years, with a maximum of six years permitted. Admission requires a four-year Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent, with an honours degree in geology, geophysics, or a related field such as physics or mathematics preferred. Applicants must submit a concise statement outlining their research interests and reasons for applying, along with two reference letters. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale over the final two years of full-time study is required. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the Faculty of Science's English language proficiency requirement.
