This is a thesis-based Doctor of Philosophy in Geoscience at the University of Calgary, training researchers and industry professionals with close ties to the resource sector. Students complete core coursework, including Geology and Geophysics of Western Canada, together with advanced independent study or readings courses tailored to their specialization in geology, geophysics or a related field such as physics or mathematics. Candidates undertake original research and defend a dissertation. The nominal length of the program is three years of full-time study, with a maximum of six years permitted.
