Overview
This is a thesis-based Master of Science in Veterinary Medical Sciences at the University of Calgary, described as preparing future leaders in animal and public health. Admission Requirements: Admission normally requires a bachelor's degree, or equivalent including a BVSc, DVM or MD, with coursework appropriate to veterinary medical sciences, and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale over the past two years of full-time study (at least 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units). A supervisor must agree to oversee the applicant's research before admission is granted. The programme page defers English-language testing to the Faculty of Graduate Studies' general standard: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 86 overall (no section below 20, or 4.5 overall with a 4.5 listening minimum for tests taken after January 21, 2026), PTE Academic 59, or Duolingo English Test 125 (no sub-score below 105); applicants with a degree taught in English at a recognised institution may be exempt. Required documents are a curriculum vitae, a Letter of Understanding signed by the student and supervisor on training and funding, and two reference letters.
