Nursing: Bachelor of Science Degree - Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program (BScN)

Admission Requirements: Direct entry, no prior post-secondary study needed - but applications do not go to UNBC. Domestic applicants apply to the College of New Caledonia (Prince George or Quesnel) or to Coast Mountain College (Terrace), the partner colleges that deliver the early years of this collaborative degree; UNBC lists no international intake. Academic entry: UNBC's general admission requirements with a 70% average, plus these BC secondary courses or their equivalents at 70% each - Chemistry 11; any one of English Studies 12, English 12 or English First Peoples 12; and a Grade 11 mathematics course, namely Foundations of Mathematics 11, Pre-Calculus 11 or Principles of Math 11. Anatomy and Physiology 12 or Biology 12 is also required, at a minimum of 73%, completed within five years before the semester of admission. English proficiency for this program is set differently from the rest of UNBC: applicants whose first language is not English must meet the BC English 12 requirement at 70% or equivalent and hold either an IELTS Academic or a CELBAN result, current and valid, at the scores the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives sets for the year of admission. After acceptance: a criminal record search before admission and again on entry to Year 3; an immunisation record with annual vaccinations such as influenza, filed with the college being attended before 15 September of first year; and CPR-C or Basic Life Support certification, kept current and re-submitted every year before classes start - online CPR courses without a face-to-face practice component are not accepted. Admission depends on academic qualifications and available space; self-identified Aboriginal applicants who meet the minimum requirements have priority for up to 20% of first-year seats.
