Overview

This program leads to a PhD in Information, offered by the Faculty of Information, and supports advanced scholarly inquiry into theoretical aspects of information as well as empirical investigation of information in a range of contexts. Combined-degree options are available with the Faculty's Museum Studies and Law programs. Unlike the Faculty's Master of Information, the PhD does not offer a direct-entry route from a bachelor's degree; admission normally requires a minimum average of A-. No standardized English-language or other admissions test is required or recommended. A supervisor is assigned by the graduate unit after admission, and admission is not conditional on securing one beforehand. The program admits for fall entry and suits students pursuing doctoral-level research training in information studies.
