The Master of Museum Studies is a two-year professional graduate program offered by the Faculty of Information, preparing students for professional roles in museums and related cultural agencies through study of the theoretical body of knowledge of museology as a context for professional practice. The program is available in coursework, capstone, project and thesis options, each requiring 7.5 full-course equivalents, and students may also pursue a combined degree with the Master of Information. Admission is competitive; successful applicants generally hold at least a B+ average. Applicants educated outside Canada whose primary language is not English must meet an English-language proficiency requirement before an offer of admission is made. The program runs full-time, with a maximum completion time of three years. Instruction is delivered in person.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold an appropriate bachelor's degree with an overall grade of at least a B+ average (grade point average 3.3) from a recognized university; successful applicants generally hold a minimum of a B+ average. Demonstrated previous experience in museums or related cultural organizations is also considered, and admission is competitive. Applicants educated outside Canada whose primary language is not English must demonstrate proficiency through one of: TOEFL with a minimum of 5.5/6.0 overall, at least 4.5/6.0 in speaking and 5.5/6.0 in writing; IELTS with a minimum of 7.5 overall, at least 7.5 in writing and 7.0 in speaking; COPE with a minimum of 95 overall (writing 41, reading 27, listening 27); or U of T's Academic English Level 60 with an overall grade of A.
