The Master of Economic Development and Innovation (MEDI) is a coursework-based graduate program offered by the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development in the Faculty of Environment. The program covers economic development theory and practice, exposing students to contemporary challenges facing cities and communities in Canada and internationally. Students complete a capstone project that involves direct, real-world experience working with an outside organization, applying classroom learning to practical development problems. The program can be completed full-time over 12 months or part-time over 24 months, with admission offered in the fall term. Graduates pursue careers in economic development agencies, municipal and regional government, planning organizations, and the private sector. English language proficiency, where required, is TOEFL 5 (writing 5, speaking 5) or IELTS 7.5 (writing 7.0, speaking 7.0).
