Program details

Overview

The PhD in Architecture is a third-cycle doctoral programme offered by the architecture department within the School of Engineering at Frederick University. It is taught in English on the Nicosia and Limassol campuses and lasts 3 years of full-time study, with part-time study also possible. Its purpose is to give candidates the chance to carry out high-quality research that builds specialised expertise and scientific knowledge, and that supports academic and research standards at department, school and university level. The programme focuses on two research fields: restoring and conserving monuments and historic structures, and environmental and sustainable design. Work in other architectural fields may also be considered. The Department has developed research in conservation and restoration over the past five years through its postgraduate programme in that area, and it now sees both the need for and the readiness of staff to support doctoral research in these fields.
