Overview

The environmental technologist programme covers environmental investigation, climate solutions and the sustainable use of resources. Students learn about waste and wastewater handling, chemical and environmental legislation, sampling and treatment, and they take samples of soil, water, air and noise. Teaching is in themed modules that mix theory with practical exercises, in classes of about 25 to 30 students. The programme lasts about two years. The fourth semester combines a placement, which is SU-eligible, in a private firm or public utility with a project period. Placement sites include consultancies, manufacturers, hospitals, municipalities and treatment plants. A placement report documents that the learning objectives have been met.
