This programme prepares students for careers spanning both the theoretical and practical sides of communication work. Employers increasingly seek candidates able to apply an understanding of cognitive processes, whether in selling products and services, in communication among colleagues, or in external messaging delivered face-to-face or through technology-mediated channels. Graduates learn to analyse and interpret the communicative dimensions of actions, emotions and thought processes that shape how messages are received and understood. These competencies support work such as designing and running communication surveys, advising on media production, evaluating and designing computer-mediated communication tools, and planning and carrying out communication strategies for organisations. The combination of cognitive insight and communication practice distinguishes the degree from purely practical or purely theoretical communication training.
