— it helps other students.
This programme builds a sound knowledge base and practical skill in the hospital emergency department, aimed at improving performance in history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpreting investigations, forming a differential diagnosis, and the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of acutely unwell or injured patients. It also develops proficiency in emergency procedures, communication across the health care team, and leadership and administration within the emergency department.
Taught at the Pasifika campus over three years for 460 credit points, the degree is meant to help Emergency Medicine mature into a stand-alone clinical specialty, lifting emergency care standards across Fiji and the wider Pacific.
