This programme in wireless communications engineering is built on research carried out by the university's Centre for Wireless Communications, in cooperation with international telecommunications companies, and is organised by the centre's radio technologies and networks-and-systems research units, which also offer research opportunities for graduate and doctoral students and postdocs. Coursework spans stochastic signal processing, radio channel modelling, radio and antenna engineering, advanced wireless communications systems and communications networks, communication, information and coding theory, optimisation and numerical matrix analysis, electronics design, digital signal and video processing, computer engineering, machine learning and artificial intelligence, with Finnish language courses available depending on student choice. Graduates gain a foundation in networking, system-level design, algorithms and radio engineering technologies, with the option to apply for doctoral training afterwards. A double-degree variant of the programme runs over two years with a focus on 6G and beyond, delivered jointly with a partner university in Sri Lanka and providing further exposure to the Finnish industry environment.
