Overview

One of four tracks of the Humanités et industries créatives master, this one trains students in editorial design and writing for the publishing sector. Teaching shares a common core with the other tracks, then branches into five specialist courses per track in each year. The master mixes humanities with communication, publishing, journalism and cultural mediation. Teaching is mainly in the first semester, and the second is for an internship or full-time work-study placement. Students gain a generalist interdisciplinary education and the professional skills of editorial work, including knowledge of the publishing sector and its challenges.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Open to licence and Master 1 holders in LSHS (letters, social and human sciences), and to other profiles with an initial training in editorial work. Selection looks at academic training, spelling, writing technique, knowledge of publishing and the book trade. Prior internship or experience in documentation or book promotion is recommended, and practice of critical or creative writing is valued.
