Overview
The first year of the Chemistry Master at Evry gives students with a chemistry, physical chemistry or biology-chemistry licence a solid, updated education in chemistry. Semester 1 is a common core of 30 ECTS: four shared units of 15 ECTS across all sites, transversal skills such as English and career preparation, and three site-specific units. Its purpose is to provide common chemistry foundations through lectures, tutorials and practical work.
Semester 2 introduces pre-specialisation in analytical chemistry or in chemistry and biology, preparing students for second-year Masters in Chemistry and related Masters such as pharmaceutical sciences. Skills taught include separation and characterisation methods, prediction of physico-chemical properties and reactivity, and the spatial and temporal aspects of chemical phenomena. Teaching is in French and the intake is 20.
