BA/BS in Arabisch

This minor gives students a working command of Modern Standard Arabic, starting with the script, core grammar and basic vocabulary. Teaching covers reading, writing, listening and speaking, and introduces at least one regional dialect. The language skills prepare students to analyse Arabic texts from many periods and to serve profiles in Islamic and Arabic studies within Asian Studies. The program leads to a Bachelor of Arts and is organised as a minor subject that has to be combined with a second subject. Teaching is in German and English, and the standard period of study is 6 semesters. Students can begin in the winter semester. Applicants need a university entrance qualification (Abitur) and proof of the required language skills; the admission requirements below list the details.
