Diploma in Communication Studies

This Diploma in Communication Studies is a two-year foundation in journalism and media practice at the University of Guyana. The first year builds core skills in communication principles, journalistic research and writing, alongside sociology and English-language coursework that supports clear professional writing. The second year moves into applied reporting, specialised journalism topics such as health, environment, culture and development, and an introduction to broadcast journalism, together with Guyanese history content that situates media practice in its national context. The diploma serves as both a terminal media qualification and a direct route into the university's Bachelor of Social Science in Communication Studies.
