The Master of Communication Studies builds on the University of Guyana's undergraduate communication programme, admitting both its own graduates and holders of other suitable bachelor's degrees who carry a grade point average of at least 2.7 on a four-point scale. Mature applicants with seven or more years of professional experience in communication or a related discipline can also enter without the standard degree-plus-GPA combination, and students transferring in from elsewhere are evaluated individually against the same minimum criteria, with exemptions granted where their prior study already meets a requirement.
The two-year programme opens with modules on persuasion and ethics, narrative communication and an elective drawn from social-change, strategic or visual communication, continuing in the second year into proposal development, research methods, social-media studies and a supervised internship, before concluding with electives chosen from across the university's graduate offerings.
