Overview
The surveying and land development engineering BSc teaches precise land measurement, the production of digital maps, 3D building and terrain models, and the analysis of aerial and satellite imagery. Early courses build on school knowledge and introduce geodetic instruments, measurement methods and large-scale mapping. Later courses cover building geoinformatics databases, editing and displaying digital maps and analysing spatial data, with an option in geoinformatics that adds engineering geodesy, cartography and management.
Graduates work in state land-registry offices, private surveying firms and any organisation that uses maps or land, and they may continue into a geoinformatics or surveying master's.
