The master's course in Chemistry builds advanced chemical training on top of the basic chemistry degree, with mathematical and computing support tools. It prepares graduates for independent professional work and for academic or industrial research, and allows access to the Chemical Sciences doctoral school. Teaching combines lectures, exercises and laboratory work on experimental methods and data processing.
Students choose one of four streams: analytical, physical, inorganic or organic chemistry, each with an analogous structure and different learning goals. The final year includes an experimental thesis carried out in a university research laboratory, or partly in external companies and bodies. The award is the Laurea Magistrale in Chimica, a second-cycle chemistry degree.
