Built specifically for nurses from outside the EU who already hold at least an MQF Level 5 nursing qualification, this bridging course closes the cultural and procedural gap between candidates' home-country practice and Maltese hospital systems. A dedicated Work Placement Clinical Practice component is central to this, familiarising candidate nurses directly with Maltese hospital procedures and processes rather than treating clinical practice as secondary to theory.
The programme builds on competences already established under EU Directive 2013/55, advancing candidates' knowledge, skills and competence for working within multicultural, multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The syllabus takes in how people develop physically, physiologically and spiritually, alongside practical tools for managing illness and difficult behaviour.
Learning combines on-campus theoretical and simulation sessions with clinical placements across different healthcare settings. Worth 41 ECTS at MQF Level 5, the course runs full-time over eight months, with intakes in March, June, August, October and December.
