Program details
Overview
This taught master's builds the knowledge and technical skills behind modern telecommunications networks, covering how such systems are analysed, designed, kept running and advanced further, and taking the foundations built at undergraduate level to a more advanced standard. Alongside core topics, the course keeps pace with current research trends in the field so the degree reflects where telecommunications technology and practice are heading.
A combination of core study units and electives lets you build broad technical competence while still being able to focus on particular areas of the subject that interest you.
Delivered full-time over three semesters for 90 ECTS credits at master's level, the programme leads to employment across telecommunications, ICT infrastructure, multimedia signal processing and transmission, regulation, and software development for telecommunications and data-processing applications.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: UM applies course-specific entry requirements under its regulations and bye-laws. Local applicants are assessed on qualifications such as the Matriculation Certificate, International Baccalaureate, or European Baccalaureate; international applicants hold overseas qualifications evaluated individually for comparability with UM's standards, with no extra requirements beyond the course's own criteria. MATSEC-qualification applicants must apply as soon as they receive their first result slip after the May/June session; students sitting September resits should apply by the course's first deadline rather than waiting on resit results. After evaluation, the Office of the Registrar issues a decision letter. Admission may also be granted via Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RPL) for undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses.
