Program details
Overview
This course mixes innovative learning material and lab work to build practical skills for an IT career, spread across two years. The first year covers units common to all IT streams, broadening learners' knowledge beyond their eventual specialism, while the second year focuses on routing, switching, infrastructure design principles and virtualisation, aimed at implementing and managing a small to medium-sized enterprise network.
Work-based learning runs through an apprenticeship scheme throughout the course, so learners apply their developing skills in real working environments rather than in the classroom alone. Graduates typically move into junior or assistant systems administrator, network administrator or database administrator roles, or into end-user support positions.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry follows internal progression from the MCAST Diploma in IT, the MCAST Diploma in iGaming, or any MCAST Level 3 Diploma, provided the applicant holds a compulsory pass in one of Computer Studies, Physics, Information Technology, IT-VET or ICT C3 at Level 3.
