BA/BS in Dental Hygiene

Dental Hygiene, known in Dutch as Mondzorgkunde, trains students to become skilled and enterprising dental hygienists who care for teeth and gums in people of all ages. The programme combines medical knowledge with psychology and communication, so students learn to motivate patients to look after their own oral health. Practical skills are rehearsed in a skills lab. In the second year students deepen their knowledge of periodontology and cariology and start treating patients in a clinic from the second block. The third year includes ten days of external placement, with more complex patients. The four-year, 240 ECTS programme leads to a Bachelor of Science at hbo level.
