Overview

This track addresses how to quantify climate-related risks such as droughts and floods across time and location, and how to develop adaptation pathways and measures suited to specific contexts. It also covers governance, engineering and information approaches to climate adaptation. Students can focus on cities, river basins, coastal zones or dryland areas, each presenting distinct challenges, and depending on the chosen profile may study drought and flood management, water conflicts and financing, water-sensitive urban drainage, decision-support systems using artificial intelligence, or coastal adaptation to sea level rise in rapidly urbanising deltas.
