Overview
TU Delft's international master's in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences gives particular weight to five areas: management, technology, research, design, and research-by-design, shaped by the circumstances specific to the Netherlands, where high population density has long pushed creative thinking about how space is used. Where architecture once meant, fairly simply, the design of buildings, the field has grown far more complicated: attention has shifted from mainly expanding the building stock toward adapting, maintaining, and replacing existing neighbourhoods and buildings, making construction a more complex, specialised field. That shift has increased demand for architectural engineers with management skills, capable of steering both the technical and logistical sides of a construction project through every phase, from initial design to managing the finished structure.
