Overview

The two-year MFA at Trondheim Academy of Fine Art combines research with studio-based work, with particular attention to how art interacts with diverse public spheres. Teaching emphasises experimentation and multi-disciplinary approaches, giving students the chance to work across a wide range of media and fields of knowledge, with projects developing through stages of conceptual and material work toward both formal and informal presentation, prompting critical and constructive debate. Public presentation happens through self-organised activity as well as through the programme's established connections within Trondheim, and a central aim is to open up new roles for artists in society, helping students contextualise their own work and shape a professional artistic profile.
