BA/BS in Videreutdanning i kirkemusikk

The further education in church music at VID is a part-time course over two years, run as a gatherings-based programme with a three-day introduction, twelve gatherings across four semesters and four weeks of practice in the second year. It is taught with UiT's Faculty of Arts, which provides 15 ECTS of organ playing. Content is split between theoretical church and church music subjects, and practical performance subjects including choir leadership and liturgical singing. The award is a further education qualification in church music. It can help graduates meet the qualification requirements for cantor posts in Norwegian parishes. The programme highlights Sami and Kven church music and is taught by experienced lecturers with long practice in the field.
